How Do I Qualify
Level 10 JO Nationals
The format of the Junior Olympic Championships is relatively unchanged from the previous years.
The number of age groups is 8 with seven(7) athletes per region per age division qualifying.
Each session will include one age divisions of fifty-six (56) gymnasts.
The number 8 gymnast is the 1st Alternate (We encourage 1st Alternates to attend Nationals)
- Receives all the National and Regional Apparel
- Is a fully credentialed Gymnast at Nationals
- Is allowed to workout with her Team on Training Day
- Is allowed to Rotate with her Team during the competition
The number 9 gymnast is the 2nd Alternate
- Should fill out all paper work,
- Should size for apparel, but does not receive apparel unless picked up to compete

QUALIFICATION TO JR. OLYMPIC NATIONAL INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT (New for 2009 -This replaces the College Bound Meet and serves as an opportunity to get NCAA exposure and allows alternates an opportunity to compete if they don’t get picked up forĀ JO Nationals)
a. Gymnasts placing 8th, 9th and 10th in each of the eight age divisions from each of the eight regions will
qualify to the Jr. Olympic National Invitational Tournament, provided that they achieve a minimum of
34.00 AA at the Regional meet.
Note: Any gymnasts who tie for 10th place will also qualify to the Jr. Olympic NIT.
b. Gymnasts who did not qualify to the Jr. Olympic National Championships or NIT in the AA, but have
won an event(s) at Regionals, will qualify in those event(s).
c. Non-US citizen athletes who live and train in the US are eligible to qualify and receive awards at JO
National Invitational Tournament.
d. There are NO PETITIONS to the Jr. Olympic National Invitational Tournament.
Level 9 Westerns
The format of the Western Championships was changed for 2009 to eliminate the emphasis on individual
competitors and create a format that would be comprised totally of Regional Teams.
The number of age groups increases from 8 to 16, with six (6) athletes per region per age division qualifying.
Each session will include two age divisions of twenty-four (24) gymnasts.
The age groups to Westerns are posted on this website as well as state and region sites.
